Lydia Brimelow writes: Below you’ll find an Emergency Letter I sent out to our donor list last week. I’m happy to report that the DDOS attacks have now been mitigated and VDARE.com seems stable.

Simultaneously, we were doing an update to our entire website that involved moving the system from WordPress to Rails. In the wake of such a broad change there are always little glitches hanging around, so if you see any, please let me know (email) and we’ll fix them ASAP.

The DDOS crisis is over, but we lost a week, and Peter and I need to finish out our Spring Fundraiser as it was originally planned.

Thank you so much, everyone, for your support in this critical time!

NOTE: The credit card donations are working now. The problems mentioned below are fixed.

Greetings!

I’m afraid I have had to interrupt our Spring fundraiser. Until late last week, we were making the case for your help, with meditations on the great prophets of patriotic immigration reform, all of whom happen to have significant anniversaries in April. We ran features about the publication of my husband Peter’s book Alien Nation, John Derbyshire, Enoch Powell and we had others planned, including a much-belated MSM recognition of Steve Sailer.

But unfortunately, we’ve run into some serious problems with our website VDARE.com that have disrupted our plans.

For the last 6 days, VDARE.com has been unable to process the number of requests made on the site. In layman’s terms, that means that too many visitors (either people on computers or robots of some kind) are trying to read VDARE.com at once, causing our system to overload and the site to be unavailable.

Regular visitors will have noticed the erratic availability of VDARE.com, and some of you have reached out to me about it. Our team is working night and day to sort out the problem. It looks like malicious DDOS attack, like others we have experienced in recent weeks, but intensified. We are straining to recover our footing and plan for future stability.

I want to thank you all for your patience. The whole situation unspeakably frustrating for me – I know it must be annoying to you too.

The truth is, VDARE.com is struggling. Peter and I run it out of our home, and if you know anything about running your own business you know that it can be all-consuming. That is especially true when the nature of the work is so critical to the future of the America we love.

To us, VDARE.com is not just the way we feed our family (and support patriot writers all over the country—indeed, the world). It’s the way we save our family. And yours.

It’s very hard to turn it off and walk away. It’s impossible to detach — social life and professional reputation be damned.

This year is going to be a serious test for VDARE.com. We have lost so much: Amazon revenue, Google Ads revenue, Paypal and a whole series of conference venues. My energy and my heart are still in the fight, but our resources are dangerously low.

There are ways around these challenges. We could fight in court, and we can find ways to distribute our critical message to our readers – after all, we inform the fight to keep America American, and if we don’t who will? We could even buy our own venue for goodness’ sake!

IF WE HAD THE MONEY.

But we don’t.

I know the current problems with keeping VDARE.com open and accessible will resolve. Our tech team will sort it out and we’ll construct protections against future attacks.

But it will be expensive. The money will have to be diverted from somewhere. It’s my role at VDARE.com to decide where those cuts land.

This is not how I want to spend my time.

I want to be restoring the subscription list for the VDARE Quarterly, destroyed by PayPal’s arbitrary cancellation, and expanding it! I want to be organizing new conferences and events! I want to bring the VDARE Book Club to life!

I want to sue these jerks who libel us and violate our civil rights! I want to celebrate America and preserve it as our forefathers intended – for ourselves and our posterity!

But it’s not in my hands. It’s in yours.

With your support, VDARE.com lives and grows. Without it, we close up shop.

I know what choice I want you to make.

Please, give generously.

Sincerely,

Lydia Brimelow
