First, the good news: in an Air Force One press gaggle on his way back from Florida on Thursday, Trump “quadrupled down,” in the words of Washington Post Narrative Enforcer Aaron Blake, on his continued refusal to endorse the Ruling Class Party Line on the August 12 Charlottesville Democratic pol/Alt Left riot. Trump said:
"[Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and I] had a great talk yesterday. I think especially in light of the advent of Antifa, if you look at what’s going on there. You have some pretty bad dudes on the other side also, and essentially that’s what I said. Now because of what’s happened since then with Antifa, when you look at really what’s happened since Charlottesville, a lot of people are saying, and people have actually written, 'Gee, Trump may have a point.' I said there’s some very bad people on the other side also. But we had a great conversation.Of course, Trump is completely right about Charlottesville Narrative Collapse. Blaming the Alt Right demonstrators, who were deprived of their civil rights by Democrat-controlled police and forced into the hands of the notoriously violent Communist AntiFa, is the greatest Main Stream Media manipulation since normie Americans were induced to believe that Iraq’s Saddam Hussein was responsible for 9/11.Trump’s inflammatory Air Force One gaggle, annotated, September 14 2017. But how does Trump know? Certainly not from cable TV. It must mean that Trump’s remarkable (and strikingly Incorrect) political instincts, which won him the Presidency last Fall and more recently caused him to break free of the White House’s corporate PR boilerplate about Charlottesville in his subsequent August 15 press conference, are still intact. Americans must hope that they burst forth again.
Now the bad news: White House drones persuaded Trump to sign the disgraceful one-sided Congressional resolution denouncing only the Alt Right at Charlottesville, which may well have authoritarian legal implications (“Use all available resources to address the threats posed by those groups”) [Trump signs resolution condemning white supremacists, by Julia Manchester, The Hill, September 14, 2017].
And, of course, Trump appears to have been lured into DACA Amnesty dalliance with his mortal enemies.
At VDARE.com, we are battle-scarred veterans of the Amnesty Wars going back to the eve of 9/11. We offer these observations:
I continue to be impressed by Joshua Green’s discussion, in his book Devil's Bargain: Steve Bannon, Donald Trump, and the Storming of the Presidency, of Trump’s TV show The Apprentice. This show was a huge success—20 million people regularly watched it—and it was especially popular with minorities, specifically African-Americans and Hispanics.
And Trump himself was even more popular with African-American and Hispanic viewers than he was with whites. He had a reason for saying during the 2016 campaign that minorities loved him.
What this means was that Trump was the answer to the GOP Establishment’s prayers—he could have run as a Republican appealing to minorities and advocating a Bush-type Amnesty/ Immigration surge. He could have been Mike Bloomberg!
Trump did do no worse and maybe better than Mitt Romney with minorities in 2016, but he didn’t do it by pandering on immigration. He did exactly the opposite. That’s not something that you would normally expect someone in his position and social class to do. I think that means that there’s something there. He has beliefs. Ultimately, he’s an American nationalist.
From which note especially this:
Erika Andiola, a well-known immigration activist, warned Schumer and Pelosi not to use DACA recipients as a “bargaining chip.” “We can’t allow Schumer and Pelosi to make a deal that includes interior enforcement for #DACA protection. We are not your bargaining chip!” she said. [Link in original].Hispanic arrogance may well again be the death of any deal.
We’d do it again.
