Lately, I’ve noticed that the news keeps featuring these Fourth of July swearing-in ceremonies, where Democrats-in-waiting finally get their voting papers. Obama is attending one of these—not to get sworn in himself (just kidding!) but to swear in a bunch of new citizens.
In a slip of the tongue, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Thursday that President Obama will naturalize “illegal” immigrants in a ceremony on Independence Day.This Fourth Of July citizenship swearing-in ceremony is a part of a major propaganda push. In 2011, Brenda Walker noted that Nancy Pelosi’s daughter Alexandra had done a documentary for HBO which“traveled around the country to film naturalization ceremonies.” Of course HBO released it on the 4th of July.Mr. Earnest was discussing the naturalization ceremony scheduled for Friday when he told reporters that Mr. Obama believes it is appropriate for the commander-in-chief “to naturalize those individuals who are in this country illegally — uh legally — who signed up to join the military to defend this country.”[More]
Freudian slip? Obama to naturalize ‘illegal’ immigrants during July 4 ceremony, By Dave Boyer, The Washington Times, July 3, 2014
Also in in 2011, I noted a naturalization story with an enthusiastic new American: “'If I'm going to work and live in America I might as well make myself an American,' Kareem Phillips said.” (Emphasis added) [ Newest U.S. citizens take oath, ABC News, July 01, 2011] Phillips had already been on active duty with the USAF for three years. Is being the Air Force something Americans won’t do?
Of course, not all naturalizations take place on the 4th of July—Boston Marathon Bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was sworn in on the even more significant date (to him) of September 11, 2012.
Which brings us to the question “Is all this naturalization a good thing?”
In 1994, according to VDARE.com Editor Peter Brimelow, who was being sworn in as a citizen himself, he heard the question of dual citizenship being hotly discussed in
a crowd of my fellow Americans-to-be as we all waited patiently for the judge to arrive and administer the Oath of Allegiance one summer day back in 1994. The woman behind me reflected the consensus. “Of course!” she forcefully declared to general approval, in the event of another military draft she would send her children back to the Caribbean — which she could do precisely because they all were retaining their original citizenship. While waiting to “swear allegiance”! With court officers all around!Nicholas Stix’s wife is from Trinidad, and when she was sworn in, he noted
We got to witness the big swearing-in ceremony. Every Citizenship And Immigration Services [CIS] worker was herself an immigrant—they bragged about it, while promoting the “America is a nation of immigrants” myth.Afterwards, his wife was enraged.:The agency apparently refuses to hire native-born Americans. You know the old routine about black welfare clients rising above poverty by becoming welfare workers to other blacks? Now we have people going from being an immigrant-client to an immigration worker!
During the hours while we waited for her, the immigrant immigration workers had brought out forms for every welfare program under the sun, which they promoted to the candidates, and for which they proceeded to sign them up.So perhaps all this Fourth Of July naturalization isn’t a patriotic exercise at all, but an unpatriotic, Elect-A-New-People, “not your father’s America” kind a thing to do?What I Saw At The Naturalization Ceremony—More Immigration Means Welfarism, Crime, And The End Of America, October 5, 2013
Well, one clue is that Barack Obama is taking time away from golfing to do it, so it must be unpatriotic.
