Media sources often fail to report the racial identities of those involved in criminal homicides.
This may be due to a lack of information. That is, they have no suspects. Other times the identities of suspects are undisclosed due to their juvenile status. But, frequently, it appears the media intentionally refuses to disclose the race of suspects. Consequently, we look to factors such as location, nature of the homicide and, when available, the name of a suspect when it appears the crime seems to fit a pattern of black-on-white crime. Here are two cases where we couldn't find the race of the killer.
DeSean Leon Brasser Jr., 23, was later arrested.
We suspect Brasser was black due to his first name and the nature of the crime. What’s more, the source article seemed to blame the proliferation of violent crimes on gun ownership while wholly ignoring the demographic reality that blacks commit a disproportionately high number of violent crimes relative to other racial groups.
According to our news source, “Starzynski, a 70-year-old former Capital Public Radio executive, had been at the club with friends, as he did on most Thursdays. As he was leaving, he was approached by a suspect in a vehicle who tried to rob him, Sacramento Police Capt. Stephen Moore told the audience at Monday’s community meeting.”

Reports say Morton was struck by a bullet fired into her house, suggesting a drive-by shooting or a stray bullet. Both are common occurrences in urban jungles. In

Apparently, Ozbun was shot as he drove away after confronting a person or persons attempting to break into his vehicle. A witness said he heard gunfire seconds before hearing Ozbun’s car crash into a tree.
