Last month: January Farm Attacks In South Africa: Shot, Attacked, Murdered, Bound, And An Elderly Woman Beaten To Death With A Chair

Here are reports of attacks on white South African farmers in the month of February:

• An elderly couple was held at gunpoint at their farmhouse near Patensie in South Africa’s Eastern Cape province.

After the home was ransacked, the husband was taken in his vehicle to an ATM where he was forced to withdraw cash. He was then taken to a remote area where he was dumped in underbrush, shot in the upper body, and abandoned.

The victim managed to make it to a road where a police vehicle was flagged down. Police found the farmer’s stolen vehicle and arrested three occupants.

• A farmer and his family were locked in the bathroom during a farm attack in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape province.

Their home was ransacked by six intruders. Taken were firearms, ammunition, cellphones, computers, and money.

• The body of Ernst Human was discovered at his farm in Jan Kempdorp, Northern Cape province.

The discovery was made by a local volunteer security group. Details of the murder were unknown.

• Two children were bound in their farm home by intruders who ransacked the house.

The incident occurred in  Rietfontein, North West province. The three attackers gained entrance through a window and unlocked a door from the inside. The children were unharmed.

• A 66-year-old woman managed to escape a farm attack at her Carolina, Mpumalanga province home.

 The widow was ambushed in her garage after driving farm workers to their homes. Still in her vehicle, the woman reversed out of her garage and evaded two attackers who smashed her windshield with a spade.

• A two-year-old toddler was among a family of four attacked and bound during a home invasion in Boschkop, Gauteng province.

The intruder fled with cash, laptops, phones, television, and firearms that included four rifles and a pistol.

• Home invaders ransacked a farm house near Thabazimbi, Limpopo Province.

A couple was assaulted and bound. A truck was stolen along with other belongings.

• A 59-year-old man was shot while watching television in his Theescombe, Eastern Cape province farmhouse.

The three armed attackers left the home, but took nothing. The man survived the attack.

• The remains of 79-year-old Lettie de Ru were found by her son at her farmhouse near Bultfontein Free State province.

The victim had been strangled and items were missing from her home. A 29-year-old suspect was arrested after stolen items were found at his shack in an encampment.
