Britain’s Border Force is “little more than a taxi service for illegal migrants,” a Conservative MP said on Monday, as he urged the government to take action to put an end to the “horrible trade” of people smuggling.

The Home Office is investigating an incident in which migrants attempting to cross the English Channel were reportedly picked up in French waters by the UK Border Force and taken to the English port of Dover…

Asking in the House of Commons what the Home Office is doing to tackle human smuggling, Sir Edward Leigh said…

“… will the minister assure me that he will use his powers under the 1971 Immigration Act to arrest all illegal immigrants, put them in detention, prosecute them, imprison them, and deport them so that we can stop this horrible trade dead in its tracks?”

The answer to this (being translated) was No. The junior Minister being addressed mumbled about “prosecuting the facilitators” (who are rarely caught) and increasing illegal immigration penalties (although as Sir Edward stressed the existing powers if used are ample).

There is a lot to be said about this.

• Sir Edward [Tweet him] tried to camouflage his demand that the U.K.’s immigration laws be enforced with the periphery people-smuggling issue. This is because opposing illegal immigration is anathema to the liberal clique who control the laughably named “Conservative Party.” They have done nothing in over 10 years in office to reverse Tony Blair’s secretive opening of the immigration flood gates.
• How can one hope for effective immigration enforcement when Britain’s Home Secretary (Secretary of the Interior) is one Priti Patel, the Hindu daughter of Indian refugees from Uganda? According to her Wikipedia entry, this political entrepreneur spent 20 years pretending to be a “Thatcherite” but avoided the immigration issue entirely.
• Peter Brimelow is right: DUNKIRK: “People Should Be Hung From Lampposts, They Should Be Burned Alive, For What They’ve Done To Britain.”
