Subject: Flagging Turkish campaign donations

To: John Podesta <john.podesta@gmail.com>

John, heard this second hand but more than once. Seems Erdogan faction is making substantial investments in U.S. to counter opposition (CHP, Kurds, Gulenists etc.) outreach to policymakers and USG. Am told that the Erdogan crew also tries to make inroads via donations to Democratic candidates, including yours. Two names that you should be aware of are *Mehmet Celebi* and *Ali Cinar*. Happy to elaborate on the phone, provided you are not shopping at the liquor store. M.

Michael Werz is a German academic at Podesta’s old Center for American Progress. From the CAP website:
Michael Werz is a Senior Fellow at American Progress, where his work as member of the National Security Team focuses on the nexus of climate change, migration, and security and emerging democracies, especially Turkey, Mexico, and Brazil.
I don’t know why Werz didn’t want to talk to Podesta about Erdogan-affiliated donors if he were at a liquor store.

There are several Mehmet Celebis in the United States. One of them was said to be associated with the Gary Busey movie “Valley of the Wolves: Iraq.” From the Jewish Telegraph Agency in 2008:

Hillary drops money man over Jewish-doctor-harvesting-Arab-organs film

The Clinton campaign says it has disassociated itself with a major financial backer, Mehmet Celebi, after learning of his role in producing a 2006 film depicting a Jewish American doctor harvesting organs from Iraqi prisoners. Ann Lewis, a top Clinton adviser, tells JTA that “we obviously do not agree with it” and that Celebi is “no longer raising money for this campaign.”

BUSEY’S “BLOOD LIBEL” FILM SCRUBBED BEFORE CELEBRITY APPRENTICE PREMIERE

It might very well be nothing more than a simple coincidence, but in the week leading up to the season premiere of Donald Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice,” in which one of the featured celebrities is Gary Busey (who, out of all of this season’s celebrities, has been featured the most heavily in advertising for the show), Youtube has been thoroughly scrubbed of all uploads of Busey’s 2006 anti-Semitic, anti-American film, “Valley of the Wolves: Iraq.”

I don’t know that that’s the same Mehmet Celebi.

Also, IMDB doesn’t list “Mehmet Celebi” as a producer of the 2006 movie “Valley of the Wolves: Iraq.”

Fans of Turkish conspiracy theorizing, however, will appreciate sequels including “Valley of the Wolves: Gladio” and “Valley of the Wolves: Ambush.” From Wikipedia:

An episode of Valley of the Wolves: Ambush that depicted Israeli Mossad agents spying inside Turkey and kidnapping Turkish babies was roundly criticized by the Israeli government and media. The Turkish government’s refusal to act on Israeli requests to more strictly censor the show had contributed to a deepening of a row between the two countries, culminating in Turkey’s threat to recall ambassador to Israel Ahmet Oguz Celikkol after a controversial diplomatic meeting with Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon in January 2010.
Perhaps the most curious title in the “Valley of the Wolves” franchise is the film that was the third-highest grossing Turkish release of 2008: “Muro: Damn the Humanist Inside.”
