Via the Washington Examiner, I see that the Democratic-led House Ways and Means Committee wants to use the IRS to attack political opponents and critics:

House Democrats on the Ways and Means Committee said on Thursday that over 60 alleged hate groups, mostly socially conservative organizations, anti-immigration entities, and religious groups should be stripped of their tax-exempt status.

Some of the bigger organizations on the list include the fundamentalist Protestant group American Family Association, which opposes gay rights, the anti-immigration organization Federation for American Immigration Reform, the conservative think tank the Center for Security Policy, and the socially conservative group the Family Research Council. The groups were designated as "hate groups" by the Southern Poverty Law Center, a group that itself is controversial and whose founder was fired this year for misconduct.

This, aside from being what Sarah Palin rightly called a "blood libel" (they want to blame people like us for mass shootings), is a serious attack on the Rule of Law. As I said when Democrats were going after the President's tax returns, they're doing what Richard Nixon was impeached for trying to do.

The Ways and Means official Twitter account launched a Tweetstorm with the kind of out-of-context quotes that we call "Ransom Note Racism" (an expression invented by Canada's Kathy Shaidle.)

One tweet attacked us:

This is a quote from our About page, above in the menu bar. The Democrats simply inserted the word [white] in the phrase "the American people." In other words, they're lying about what we said, I would guess because they hate white people, and think anyone who likes white people is evil.

At VDARE.com, we have never said that only whites are the American people—in Alien Nation, Editor Peter Brimelow merely spoke of "a plain historical fact: that the American nation has always had a specific ethnic core. And that core has been white."

Here's what we actually say on our About page:
The racial and cultural identity of America is legitimate and defensible: Diversity per se is not strength, but a vulnerability. It is a luxury that we can only afford as long as we preserve our breadwinner, the American people. VDARE.com recognizes that mass immigration both legal and illegal has driven America to the verge of bankruptcy in the following areas:

And I would be remiss if I didn't say that below that on our About Page is this:

It's tax-deductible!

Let me explain about what "breadwinner" means here: it means net taxpayer—someone who produces more in taxes than he takes in benefits like welfare, healthcare, and education. And one thing modern immigrants from Third World countries are not is net taxpayers. Mass immigration of the modern kind imports people who are poor, from poor countries, who are likely to stay poor.

How much of that can taxpaying America afford?

The Committee Democrats are also attempting to associate wrongthink with mass shootings—the Examiner says "The subcommittee heard from multiple victims of mass shootings, who shared their stories and asked the congressmen to take legislative action to eliminate the tax benefits given to nonprofit groups that may proliferate hate and discrimination."

But one of the few mass shootings that can actually be tied to a website is Floyd Lee Corkins's attack on the Family Research Council’s Washington, DC office. Corkins, who is black and homosexual, had been reading the SPLC's list of "anti-gay" organizations.

And if you want to talk about violence inspired by hate, you need to talk about the Black Lives Matters riots and murders inspired not only by the (tax-exempt) Black Lives Matter organization itself, but by the Democratic Party, headed by President Barack Obama, seen below using the Presidential "bully pulpit" in support of the Ferguson rioters.

We are not a "Hate Group." We are a hated group. Our opponents are the ones promoting and justifying violence (see above). This new lying attempt at suppression is just one more example of America's Emerging Totalitarian Left.
