There's a rush by world leaders to congratulate Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, who have been declared the winners by the election authorities of Fox News.  But one world leader who isn't jumping on the bandwagon is Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO).

As I've pointed out before, as Mexican President, AMLO has been very careful in not criticizing Trump and that's still true.

In a press conference on November 7, the Mexican president stated that

"Concerning the U.S. elections, we are going to wait until all the legal matters have been resolved.  We don't want to be imprudent, we don't want to act lightly and we want to be respectful of the self-determination of the peoples and respectful of the rights of the other. Therefore, we want to wait until the U.S. election has been legally resolved.   Let me make clear to you that we have a good relationship with both candidates.  President Trump has been very respectful to us and we have achieved very good agreements. And we appreciate the fact that he has not been a meddler and has respected us." [Versión estenográfica.
