Unless they are defending their homeland from invasion, most guys don’t actually want to go to war these days. Weapons have gotten way too accurate. What’s the point of working your way up the ranks to general if that just puts a big target on your back (as it appears to be doing to Russian generals)? You don’t see King of the Chechens Ramzan Kadyrov risking his neck in Ukraine, do you?
Making cool militaristic videos is much better than actually leading the charge into enemy territory.
