Chinese New Year has seen two back-to-back California immigrant mass-murderers in just one week.
First was 72-year-old Huu Canh Tran, an Asian immigrant who killed 11 people with an illegal weapon in a dance club located within a Chinese immigrant community, apparently because he hadn’t been invited to the party. Authorities say he regularly attended the club where he met his ex-wife as a former instructor.
Tran was apparently worried that dance instructors there had been saying “evil things about him” and were out for his “wife,” but it is unclear if Tran was actually married at the time of the incident.
He first opened fire with his pistol at the Star Ballroom Dance Studio in Monterey Park. That’s where Tran killed 11 and wounded at least 10 other patrons. The gunman stowed away inside a van during a standoff with police where he turned the gun on himself.
That was immigrant mass murder #1.
On Monday, January 23rd, 67-year-old Zhao Chunli murdered seven people in Half Moon Bay, California.
Four were killed and one wounded at a mushroom farm where Chunli was an employee. He then went on to kill three others at a separate location 2 miles away. Authorities say the gunman targeted his victims.
Chunli turned himself in at a sheriff’s office parking lot.

Maybe the answer to this violence is not gun control—but rather, immigration control.
