Anarcho-Tyrants sent a strong message to ranchers on the southwest border whose homes and properties are being invaded, trashed, and sometimes robbed by illegal aliens. You better not tangle with the illegals. And if you do, you better not kill one. Authorities in Santa Cruz, Arizona have charged a 73-year-old rancher with first-degree murder in connection with the killing of a Mexican illegal on January 30th.
His name is George Alan Kelly, and his ranch is about a mile and a half from the border in Kino Springs, Arizona. According to prosecutors... on January 30th, Kelly allegedly shot and killed an illegal alien who was crossing his ranch.
However, court filings from Kelly’s legal defense state that the rancher was having lunch with his wife when he heard a gunshot in the distance. He discovered a group of men armed with assault rifles moving through the trees around his home. Kelly says that he first called Border Patrol for backup ... He then noticed one of the men point an AK-47 rifle at him and responded by firing warning shots over their heads. Kelly states that he couldn’t have possibly hit a member of the group.
The body of 48-year-old Gabriel Cuen Buitimea was found on Kelly’s ranch by local police. Buitimea had a long history of illegal entries.
Kelly’s court filings also state that the Border Patrol Ranch Liaison wrongly reported what Kelly told him about the confrontation. The liaison, quote, “incorrectly reported that Mr. Kelly stated he could not tell whether the men were armed or not.” End quote. But, Kelly actually told authorities he heard the gunshot first.
Justice Emilio Velasquez set Kelly’s bond at 1 million dollars... meaning Kelly’s wife will be left alone at home to tend to the ranch while he awaits trial.
A GoFundMe page raised thousands for the Rancher’s bond. However, the campaign was terminated by the platform. GoFundMe responded by saying that they do not allow fundraising for the legal defense of those accused of violent crimes.
In contrast, GoFundMe permitted the mother of Jacob Blake to raise more than 2 million dollars to pay his medical bills. Yet Blake was shot when he fought with police, who were trying to arrest him for felony sexual abuse and misdemeanor domestic abuse.
A GiveSendGo campaign was launched shortly after and has since raised over 300,000 dollars.
