As a Democrat, I think the Republican Party is committing Hara-Kiri with the Federal government shut-down. But my concern is how this will play out in the struggle to stop “comprehensive immigration reform”—S.744, the Schumer-Rubio Amnesty/ Immigration Surge bill already passed by the Senate.
As Iowa Republican Congressman Steve King’s Chief of Staff, Tracie Gibler eloquently warned at the recent US. Inc sponsored 37th Writers’ Workshop in Washington DC, if any of the so-called "good” bills on immigration reform are passed in the House, and Speaker Boehner allows a Conference Committee with the Senate, then some form of Amnesty will be smuggled through.
Let me repeat—if any House bill is passed, and the House goes to conference with the Senate, we will get son of S. 744—a true bastard, which will profoundly change America and wreck permanently our precious Rule of Law.
At this same Writers Workshop, in the company of immigration patriots from FAIR, NumberUSA as well as Peter Brimelow, the founder of this powerful web site, and his lieutenant James Fulford, we were addressed by Dennis Michael Lynch, the entrepreneur and film maker, who has just released They Come To America II: The Cost of Amnesty. (Be sure to go to his web site and get a copy—and its predecessor, They Come To America, if you haven’t seen it).
This is a man, who from humble beginnings made millions in business, but now is devoting his full attention to enlightening all Americans to the huge and too little understood tragedy threatened by “Comprehensive Immigration Reform.”
Let me switch scenes. As a Korean War veteran, I was, along with thousands of other veterans and their families, at an ornate ceremony on the DC Mall this summer, graced by the presence of President Obama along with his Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel—a combat veteran, unlike those Federal government leaders who got us into this Middle East mess over a decade ago.
The occasion: the 60th anniversary of the armistice which ended the full-scale fighting between North and South Korea, but by no means ended the hostilities. Korean vets adorned with South Korean medals were addressed by high-level South Korean officials and by Obama and his entourage.
Ok, I and my fellow vets were gratified for this rare (as Obama admitted in his remarks) notice of our service. But let’s understand what Obama stands for in repayment for our sacrifices!
He wants Open Borders. He wants a continuing alien invasion of the USA, which began in earnest with the landmark 1965 legislation and permitted the importation of over 100 million aliens and their offspring, lifting our population from under 200 million to over 310 million en route to 400 million or more by mid-century.
As a regular golfer at a course which is part of the Armed Forces Retirement Home in DC, I frequently have an opportunity to obtain the views of many of our veterans—people who served in Korea, Vietnam and more recently in our Middle East imbroglios. When they hear the real story of how our borders are being crossed and our country is being ravaged by unneeded numbers of immigrants, they are uniformly (yes, that is a pun) totally supportive of stricter enforcement—and against the proposed Amnesty and massive increase in legal immigration.
These men offered their lives to protect and defend America. The ultimate betrayal of their military service would be for our government not to defend our country from this current invasion.
So, folks, this shut-down will be exploited to the full by Obama. It is widely disdained by the majority of Americans, including me. It very likely could open the way for Democrats, crassly seeking votes, to throw the majority of our citizens, particularly the poorest and least powerful among us, under a steamroller funded by greedy Big Business, the US Chamber of Commerce cheered on by their eager collaborators, the US Catholic Bishops and the ethnic lobbyists like LULAC and La Raza.
Amid the chaos and confusion of the shut-down, S. 744 or its possible bastard, a House/Senate conference compromise, can be stopped only if American citizens make sure their elected representatives know their utter opposition to for the prospect of more open borders.
Americans, the ball truly is in your court.
