As you VDARE.COM readers know, one of my greatest concerns has been the failure of my party, the Democratic Party, to extend the E-Verify program, which allows all US employers to rapidly check the computer based Federal records to determine that they are employing only American citizens or legal immigrants with work visas. E-Verify is 99.5% accurate and answers most inquiries about legal status in seconds.
In calling for action on the part of our elected Congress people, I know I am really calling on my readers to take action by calling from their members' districts, because those are the only calls most of these elected elites pay attention to.
It is no surprise to anyone that the ruling elites from both parties are paid to let slave labor come into America at the fastest rate possible. These multinational businesses such as Microsoft and many others see global labor as simply a commodity to be purchased at the lowest price possible. Consequently, when others with wishes to add to their memberships, such as Hispanic advocacy NGOs , LULAC, La Raza and/or the US Catholic Church, fit their corporate slave labor purposes, these business giants give the Hispanic advocate agencies a bunch of money.
Some of you may have read my VDARE.COM piece on California on June 6th: "California Is Dying—And It's The Canary In America's Immigration Coal Mine".
So here's the deal: I am always asked, "What can I do", which is generally a cop out for "Gee, what can I do against this kind of power?" My reply: NEVER GIVE UP. Politics is a contact sport. And your representatives are your contact.
Here is but one more example of the infidelity to us citizens from, sadly, my party on the issue of real immigration reform.
On Friday, June 12, 2009 the House Appropriations Committee considered a bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security for 2010. This bill, the Homeland Security Appropriations Bill, contained funding for many important agencies to help secure our nation's borders and to combat illegal immigration.
A critical part of this bill was a provision that would extend the critical E-Verify! This is the most important tool in the real immigration reform tool box! The bill only adds two (2) years instead of five (5), but that's something.
Rep. Jack Kingston (R-GA), who has been a long supporter of E-Verify, offered an amendment to the bill that would also require all federal contractors who work with DHS to use the E-Verify program.
This common-sense amendment would have helped combat illegal immigration and helped protect American jobs by ensuring that these government contractors hire only legal American workers.
Know what happened? The amendment was voted down, exactly on party lines, with the Democrats stripping it out, some mumbling it would cost too much (to whom? You mean the fat cat businesses that want more slave labor?).
My outrage as a Democrat grows greater every time these people, often proclaiming their support for E-verify, take another step toward pushing for "comprehensive immigration reform" [CIR], which is of course amnesty, which will double the present number of illegals in short order.
An earlier attempt in November 2008 was made by the Bush Administration, which proposed a rule similar to the Kingston amendment. But when special interest groups sued the government to block the rule, the Bush Administration postponed the final rule from going into effect.
This latest fiasco means in effect that our Congress and the Obama Administration have further postponed this vital tool of reform at least four times.
This most recent postponement will further delay the requirement that federal contractors use E-Verify until September 8, 2009.
In the meantime, federal contractors will continue to hire illegal aliens, and pay them with U.S. tax dollars, while Americans remain out of work. Does either party show any shame about this lapse of moral commitment to the welfare of American citizens, the very people who pay their salaries?
Specifically, FAIR noted "why the Kingston Amendment is so important - it will protect American jobs. Americans are suffering the highest rate of unemployment in over 25 years, and we need to do everything possible to make sure the few jobs that are available, are going to American citizens and legal immigrants with work authorization."
Ok, so we didn't get it this time. But that should not keep you from taking action to stop this flood tide of immigration! You can pick up the phone and call the U.S. Representative(s) from your state and ask them why the Congress continuously has failed to extend E verify and to support strong amendment such as Kingston's.
These folks apparently just don't care about us and our jobs. This latest amendment would literally have started yesterday saving American jobs!!
We should never give up. Our country is on the line. The chance to pass this extension will surely arise again. Be sure you watch and are alert and keep the pressure on.
Hurry. Don't tell me there is nothing you can do!! If you are from the state of any of these Democrats who believe open borders are the way to go, your call will be taken seriously. Idea: call you Congressman or woman and say, "Hey, take me off your mailing list until you vote for an extension of E verify."
