Congressman Jeb Hensarling: Would you buy a used immigration policy from this man?
Congressman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX 5) has a great idea to pitch to patriots only days before the midterm elections—more immigration! And what’s worse, the Stupid Partyis again preparing to sell out the Historic American Nation, perhaps by installing him as the replacement for the “Ohio Orangeman,” Speaker John Boehner.
In a kind of reverse Sign of Contradiction, the Beltway Right is lining up behind Hensarling because, according to Newsmax’s Jennifer Hickey, he is “a committed free-market conservative”—always a sign that immigration patriots should be cautious.
Hensarling appears not to know or care about the harmful impact of immigration on American wages. In fact, one of the arguments now being raised in Beltway Right outlets like Newsmax is that a Republican takeover of Congress is critical because Democrats like Mitch McConnell opponent Alison Grimes, ludicrously running for cover, “is adopting an anti-immigration stance.” [GOP Control of Senate May Open Way to Immigration Reform, by Jennifer Hickey, Newsmax, October 21, 2014]
Of course, much like Texas Governor Rick Perry, Hensarling occasionally talks tough about immigration. Speaking of the hurricane of humanity that has crossed our border the last several years, Hensarling commented, “In the short term, the best thing that we can do to stem this immigration problem is to get C-130’s (aircraft) to land in Honduras and Guatemala and unload their children.” [Can Zadt County News-Hensarling says immigrant children should be sent back, Obamacare must end, by Britne Reeves, House of Representatives, August 24, 2014]
But Henserling is running the classic Republican elite bait-and-switch tactic: tough talk coupled with small-scale Amnesty, to ensure cheap labor for Republican donors. Piecemeal Amnesty is more palatable for easily-distracted voters, and the dishonest GOP leadership thinks it can pass small-scale legislation over time and get away with it.
Case in point: Hensarling’s expanded guest worker plan. [Hensarling: GOP-Controlled Congress Should Massively Increase Guest-Worker Permits for Foreigners, by Tony Lee, Breitbart, Oct. 21, 2014]
Specifically, Hensarling wants to expand the dreadful H1-B program, at a stroke rendering Americans’ personal investments in education and computer science worthless in the quest good jobs. Even more incredibly, Hensarling is lobbying for a “vibrant” guest worker program for low-skilled workers. [Conservative Jeb Hensarling: The GOP agenda next year should include a “vibrant” guest-worker program for low-skilled workers, by Allahpundit, HotAir, October 22, 2014]
Such a program not only undercuts American wages, it practically guarantees a permanent Democratic majority by inviting in a government-dependent demographic to sire the next generation of American citizens.
Under Hensarling’s program, the American middle-class would be squeezed by economic and social displacement from a state-engineered Hispanic lower class and an imported upper middle class.
The Republican donor class would win—but the Historic American Nation would be utterly dispossessed—and the Conservative Movement rendered irrelevant.
Needless to say, Hensarling is cloaking this suicidal platform in patriotic talk and Texas swagger, much like former President George W. Bush. Earlier this year, Hensarling intoned:
First, as any Texan can tell you, our national borders are not secure. An unsecured border is a threat to both our national security and our economic security. Without real border security that eliminates illegal crossings and visa-overstays, no immigration reform plan can ever work… we are a nation of laws and we cannot reward illegal behavior with amnesty or allow those who broke the law to ‘cut’ in the citizenship line. It is simply not fair to all of those who waited patiently to come here legally. But, as Tony Lee’s Breitbart piece noted, Hensarling doesn’t even believe in a full fence along the southern border. Hensarling reportedly said that we don’t need a “physical wall” built “over the entire length of the border.”[Hensarling Responds to Immigration Proposal, Press Release by Representative Jeb Hensarling, Jan. 31, 2014]
Hensarling’s timing for this new immigration push is simply staggering, considering that almost every day brings new evidence of the Obama’s Administration’s indifference to the consequences of immigration lawlessness. For example, only a week ago we learned that
New records contradict the Obama administration's assurances to Congress and the public that the 2,200 people it freed from immigration jails last year to save money had only minor criminal records. The records, obtained by USA TODAY, show immigration officials released some undocumented immigrants who had faced far more serious criminal charges, including people charged with kidnapping, sexual assault, drug trafficking and homicide. [U.S. misinformed Congress, public on immigrant release, by Brad Heath, USA Today, October 22, 2014] (VDARE.com emphasis added).Yet the Republican Party ignores what are essentially unforced errors by the Obama Administration.
The only conclusion we can draw is that the Republican Party leadership is not only indifferent to the consequences of mass immigration, but indifferent to its own party’s survival —if the price required for victory is immigration patriotism.
As the emergence of Hensarling shows, the Republican leadership has only contempt for American workers—and that contempt is shared by pro-Amnesty leaders like Jeb Bush, Rand Paul, and Kevin McCarthy.
Whatever happens in next week’s elections, immigration patriots must understand that the battle is not between Republicans and Democrats—but the Historic American Nation against a bipartisan and hostile occupying regime.
