What do racial quotas have to do with winning wars? Obvious answer: nothing.
But the Obama Administration’s Defense Department’s racial bean counters have a different vision of national security. Recently, the Department of Defense (DoD) Office of Diversity Management, together with the German Marshall Fund, gathered in Washington D.C. to confer about this grand vision under the heading of “Mission Critical: Transatlantic Security and Diversity.”
The conference rubric posted on the GMF website included this insight:
Given rapid demographic change [a.k.a. the federal government’s immigration policy] as well as advances in gender and LGBT equity and a new generation of veterans in NATO countries, it is a security imperative for military leaders to proactively advance diversity and inclusion (D&I) best practices. (Emphases added).
The Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, Jessica L. Wright, is in charge of D&I policy for the Department of Defense. The DoD press release quoted her:
“No matter what you do, you have to be cognizant of diversity,” Wright said. “And I will tell you the department has an ongoing commitment to this.”[Wright: Diversity Contributes to DOD’s Success, by Sgt. 1st Class Tyrone C. Marshall Jr., American Forces Press Service, October 29, 2013]
Wright claimed the Defense Department’s military and civilian personnel perform well because they “represent the nation in our workforce.”
Merit, evidently, has nothing to do with it.
Of course, Wright does not explain which parts of her own life “represent the nation.” When Wright chooses her friends, doctors, lawyers, or bakers, do they have to “represent the nation”?
Why isn’t Wright, and everyone with her viewpoint, forced to be racially/LGBT/gender inclusive when making important decisions about their own lives?
If not, who will sue her, or pressure her to “diversify” her personal and professional relationships?
The easy answer: Wright and those like her are hypocrites. The full answer: they are allowed to disguise their social-engineering fraud because timid “conservatives” enable it and liberals encourage them.
While the Conservative Establishment does nothing, Wright and those like her are free to mouth platitudes about diversity and are never made to explain to explain why the principle of merit should be abandoned and how diversity is strength when it is obviously weakness.
Because Conservatism Inc. is too gutless to challenge multiculturalists, the welfare state and the military (rapidly becoming the same thing) are instituting blatantly anti-white hiring practices. The widespread dismissal of officers who oppose Obama’s social engineering will pave the way for more Affirmative Action and diversity dogma [Top Generals: Obama is ‘Purging the Military’, by F. Michael Maloof, World Net Daily, October 31, 2013].
The American Forces Press Service’s Sgt. 1st Class Marshall further quoted Wright making this even weirder assertion:
“And I will tell you,” she continued, “that we talk about diversity in the terms of race and gender, and ethnicity, but it is much more than that in my mind.”Diversity, Wright said, is also about “your thought process, how you grew up, [and] what you can add to the greater good because of your background.”
But DoD doesn’t celebrate service members because of their “thought process” or their generic “background.” We don’t hear the DoD proclaiming the virtues of the first General with a left-brain dominant thought process, or the first Admiral from Missouri.
We do, however, see that the first female to become the top Army attorney is lionized, for her gender, by the military’s mouthpiece media [Army's first female TJAG takes the helm Wednesday, by Chris Carroll, Stars and Stripes, September 3, 2013].
Obama’s DoD is putting the power of the federal government behind promoting, advancing, and celebrating minorities. But it will not do this for people with just any differing “thought process” or “background.”
So what does Wright really mean when she says that diversity is “much more” than race/gender?
She is engaged in an intellectual shell game. The Obama Regime can’t quite say straight out that it wants fewer white male Christians in the military. However, it can create a hostile environment for unfavored groups by the imposing the view that, in the words of the recent notorious Defense Equal Opportunity Management Instutute training manual, “a healthy, white, heterosexual, Christian male receives many unearned advantages of social privilege.” [PDF]
This “Mission Critical: Transatlantic Security and Diversity” conference went without notice in the Main Stream Media. It was simply another quiet step forward for the cause of anti-white racial socialism.
Note also that, according to the Marshall Fund rubric, the anointed gathered at the conference to
seed a transatlantic community of shared interest to advance D&I [= “Diversity and Inclusion”] best practices in militaries; strengthen the position of D&I on the national security agenda of the U.S. and European partners… and help to frame a transatlantic conversation about diversity and security for policymakers and publics in a positive and future oriented way.
In other words, the American taxpayer paid for a scheme to impose anti-white male discrimination throughout our European allies’ armed forces.
When did Americans sign up for this Cultural Marxist imperialism?
