The Great [Redacted] continues without interruption.
Close to 400,000 anchor babies were born in the United States in 2019 as an executive order to end birthright citizenship gets kicked down the road for another year by President Donald Trump’s administration.
Analysis conducted by the Center for Immigration Studies revealed in 2018 that about 300,000 U.S.-born children of illegal aliens are born every year. These children, often referred to as “anchor babies,” immediately obtain American citizenship and anchor their illegal or foreign parents in the country.
In addition, about 72,000 anchor babies are born to foreign tourists, foreign visa workers, and foreign students every year — all of whom obtain immediate American citizenship simply for being born within the parameters of the country.
Altogether, about 372,000 anchor babies are estimated to have been born last year despite a commitment by Trump to sign an executive order ending the nation’s “anchor baby policy” that incentivizes pregnant migrant women to cross the U.S.-Mexico border in the hopes of securing American citizenship for their children.
This indicates that there were more anchor babies born in 2019 than births in each of the 50 states except California and Texas.

Ending birthright citizenship was one of President Trump's campaign promises. Media outlets reported in October 18 that President Donald Trump was going to sign an executive order to end birthright citizenship. President Trump said he was "seriously" considering doing something about it last August, prompting much wailing from Conservatism Inc.
Most recently, acting director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration services Ken Cuccinelli believes ending birthright citizenship would not require a constitutional amendmnent. “I do not think you need an amendment to the Constitution. I think the question is do you need congressional action or can the executive act,” he said [Ken Cuccinelli: We can end birthright citizenship without Constitution amendment [sic], by Stephen Dinan, Washington Times, October 16, 2019].
Unfortunately, this smacks of President Trump "monitoring" social media, while not doing much about it. We are now three years into President Trump's administration. Public support for his removal has spiked in recent days, and at least part of his base is deeply disturbed about the president's foreign policy.
Incredibly, the Democrats and the Main Stream Media have provided the incumbent president with an opportunity to run as an "outsider" against the System with their transparent coup attempt. However, President Trump needs to give his base a reason to fight for him the way he did in 2016. An executive order on birthright citizenship would be that reason. He doesn't need to ask permission, he doesn't need to go to Congress, and if it goes to the courts, then he can at least wage that fight there.
What, exactly, is he waiting for? It's time for the base to speak up.
