Attacks on white farmers continued in March. One of the victims was a widower whose wife had been killed in a previous attack.

“Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello said: ‘The police received a complaint of a house robbery in progress and, upon arrival, they found a white man lying face down with multiple stab wounds. The man was declared dead on the scene and the woman who had also sustained a stab wound on the body was taken to hospital.’
“Jan was murdered metres away from where the body of his daughter, Arina, was found almost 11 years ago, said Cameron.”

Reports say the victim was struck in the head with a panga (a South African machete) and stabbed multiple times. He was also shot in the hand and chest.
His mother rushed him to a hospital. He suffered a fractured skull and punctured lung.
The number of attackers is unknown.

The couple was bound as four attackers ransacked their home. Taken were household items and a truck.

Reports say an intruder fired a gun at a farm manager, but missed. The gunshot alerted neighbors, who contacted authorities.
Farmers assisted police using a private helicopter and drone. Four were arrested, all in their twenties. Two suspects remain at large. A rifle stolen during the attack was recovered.

Arrested was a “35-year-old suspect for a farm attack and house robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition at Nzhelele Ha Rabali on Friday 17 February 2023,” a police report says.
The attack occurred in December 2022. Two stolen firearms were recovered.

Arrested were “six suspects aged between 40 and 42 for attempted murder, attempted robbery, impersonating a police officer and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition,” a police report says.
Two occupants of the farmhouse, a man and woman, were accosted and robbed. The man managed to contact authorities.
Police believe the same suspects posing as police officers robbed the couple days earlier.

Three attackers were resisted by farm workers, leading to one of the workers being shot. The sound alerted the farmer, who contacted police.
Three were arrested and the injured worker was hospitalized.

Four armed attackers forced the family inside their home, where they were bound.

Reports say a 68-year-old man and his wife, 65, were robbed at gunpoint by four males posing as police.
The suspects lured the man to a site of the alleged theft, leaving one intruder alone with his wife. He demanded money and firearms from her.
Meanwhile, the man was assaulted, then taken back to the home where the couple was bound and locked in a room. The assailants ransacked the home, taking hunting rifles, two firearms, ammunition, a laptop, a pair of binoculars, cell phone, and the couple’s Toyota.

74-year-old Charl Bekker was fatally strangled and his wife, 70-year-old Elzabe, was assaulted and bound.
A number of items were stolen, including the couple’s Mercedes Benz.

Obie Oberholzer was attacked while sleeping. He was stabbed multiple times and struck in the head with a pickaxe handle.
After demanding keys to the safe, the assailants stole the man’s wallet, revolver, and ammunition.
His wife, Lindie Oberholzer, was murdered in her home a few months earlier.

One of the men was shot in the stomach, the other was shot in the foot.
The five attackers made off with the victims’ cellphones and a television.
