Tthis is from a hit piece on White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, which Soledad O'Brien (formerly of CNN) on Twitter, wouldn't even link to because it wasn't enough of a hit piece.
But she was using racist language similar to Mr. Trump’s long before the formal launch of his political career — or hers. Eight years ago, a 24-year-old Ms. McEnany leapt at the Twitter hashtag #ObamaTVShows to offer “How I Met Your Brother — Never mind, forgot he’s still in that hut in Kenya.”

It seems like the NYT doesn't realize that George Hussein Onyango Obama, half-brother of Barack Obama, exists, and in 2012, was living a hut, or possibly a shed, shack, or shanty.
Steve Sailer blogged on this in 2008 [Obama's Brother by Another Mother Found Living in a Hut] the Daily Mail covered it at the same time in Barack Obama's 'half-brother discovered in Kenya, living on a dollar a month' By Nick Pisa, August 20, 2008.
And this was not old news by 2012, when a 24-year-old McEnany tweeted about it, Obama's half-brother was, in fact, still living in a hut in Kenya in 2012:
Obama's slumdog brother: Meet the hopeless drunk from a Nairobi shanty town who is the U.S. President's BROTHER, DailyMail, August 10, 2012.

He was still living there in 2015. [Obama: I don’t need my brother US President Barack Obama’s penniless half-brother George lives in a slum in Nairobi, Kenya, despite the fact that he is the author of a successful book and a play. He wants to make it on his own. by Argwings Odera, Africanindy.com, September 26, 2015]
Obama's father, Barack Sr. had children by two white women, Stanley Ann Dunham, and Ruth Baker. Stanley Ann Dunham's son was President of the United States, Ruth Baker's son (Obama's half-brother Mark) is an executive with a Chinese Import-Export company, and his youngest son, George, lives in a hut in Kenya.
But many of you knew that. My feeling is that the NYT's Elizabeth Williamson called this racist because she'd never heard of George Obama, and her picture of a "hut in Kenya" is a traditional African dwelling inhabited by a man in a loincloth with a spear.
Well, that's racist, right there. The slums of Nairobi are pretty Third-Worldy, but they're not jungle or savannah, it's a city.
But the main thing is that Williamson assumes it's racist because she never heard of Obama's brother, and assumes anything you say about Obama is racist.
This is true, and is the problem with the whole Obama project, as noted in Face It, Anything You Say About Obama Is A Gaffe on February 2, 2007, before Obama was elected.
