News of the sad events in St. Jean sur Richelieu has rocked the Muslim community in Montreal.Of course not. Pure coincidence. And we don't want a backlash against their community. After all, the Canadian community just got a bit of a backlash for opposing ISIS.Concerned there might be a backlash against their community, many hope to stress that Martin Couture-Rouleau’s murderous act of mowing down a member of the Armed Forces should not be connected to his recent conversion to Islam.

The Canadian Muslim Forum say they were shocked by news of Couture-Rouleau's actions and have outright condemned it.What do they want, a cookie? (Link NSFW)
They said Tuesday that they are also concerned they're being held responsible to answer for his actions.Fair enough, but the problem here is twofold.Connecting terrorist groups such as ISIS to Islam is dangerous and could hurt the peaceful Muslim communities living here and abroad, said Samer Majzoub, president of the Canadian Muslim Forum.
One, it seems that nonwhites get to have a copout when it comes to various offenses against the public order. Smear all white men as racist or say all Republicans are bigoted and you are on your way to tenure. Point out far more fact-based and limited conclusions like "blacks disproportionately commit crimes" or "most terrorist attacks are coming from Muslims" and you will be hounded out of your job.
In fact, these kinds of articles portray whites as bloody minded lunatics, ready to launch a pogrom the minute a Muslim does something bad. Whites should be offended by this kind of treatment.
Two, the Islamic practice of taqiyya specifically permits Muslims to lie to nonbelievers in order to further the aims of the religion. As Robert Spencer documents, there's a long tradition of "moderate" Muslims supposedly denouncing violence while providing certain cop-outs in the fine print. The mainstream media, always eager to further a Narrative of dastardly white males oppressing agency free nonwhites and non-Christians, is always there to facilitate the process. So how seriously can we take this condemnation?
The bottom line is that this isn't a terrorism problem — it's an immigration problem. Once you have a large Muslim population in your country, this kind of terrorism will be a low level threat for all time, regardless of what you do. As well known atheist Sam Harris (hardly a conservative) argues,
The idea that Islam is a “peaceful religion hijacked by extremists” is a dangerous fantasy—and it is now a particularly dangerous fantasy for Muslims to indulge. It is not at all clear how we should proceed in our dialogue with the Muslim world, but deluding ourselves with euphemisms is not the answer. [The Reality of Islam, by Sam Harris]Here's a suggestion — why aren't Canadians portrayed as the wronged party? Why shouldn't Muslims have to prove their good intentions to their hosts, rather than Canadians have to rearrange their entire society to soothe the hurt feelings of a hostile population?
Fat chance. Instead, the media is telling us the big problem with this shooting is that Canadians might get angry at being murdered and killed in what used to be their country. [Ottawa shooting: Muslim groups fear angry response from public, CBCNews, October 23, 2014]
Bottom line — according to the media's anti-Western Narrative, no matter what They do, it will always be Our fault.
