The Obama Administration appears to have a fixation on Arizona. Washington has not been helpful in dealing with the states worsening border crisis; in fact, the feds have been downright hostile. Ever since Arizona signed its enforcement-only SB1070 into law, Obama and cronies have been piling on abuse and harassment, from unfounded accusations of racism to an unprecedented lawsuit, even though the law was modeled on the federal statute. Another insult was the State Departments mention of Arizona to Red China during discussions of human rights abuses, as if there were a comparison with non-existent racism alleged by Obama and the behavior of the communist Chinese.
The latest affront from State is using Arizona as part of its bad-example list of human rights problems in the United States presented to the United Nations. (More of the administrations fondness for making apologies to dictators.)
State Department Stands By Decision to Include Arizona in U.N. Human Rights Report, Fox News, August 30, 2010
The State Department included a Justice Department lawsuit against Arizonas immigration law into a United Nations human rights report to show how U.S. rule of law can be an example to the world, a State Department spokesman said Monday.
Spokesman P.J. Crowley said the Arizona immigration law included in an Aug. 20 report to the U.N. high commissioner on rights came up during the preparation period, when teams went around the country gathering ideas for the report. […]
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer on Friday demanded that a reference to the law be removed from the State Department report on ways the federal government is protecting human rights.
It is downright offensive that a state law would be included in the report, Brewer, a Republican nearly guaranteed re-election as a result of the legal dispute, wrote to Clinton.
The idea of our own American government submitting the duly enacted laws of a state of the United States to review by the United Nations is internationalism run amok and unconstitutional, she said.
Arizona State Representative Frank Antenori is a former Special Forces/Iraq veteran and isnt impressed with the two-bit dictators at the United Nations. As Antenori pointed out, the federal lawsuit against Arizona only addressed the issue of pre-emption, not human rights. (You can read the report for the UN here.)
