Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) has proposed a bill that would defund many of the NGOs who are actively helping the invasion.
There are already documented incidents in which NGOs have allocated funds to accelerate the entry of illegal aliens into our country, all the while corrupting public trust and thumbing their noses at the rule of law,” she added. “Necessary countermeasures and pressure, like those found in the Grant Integrity and Border Security Act, will serve as a boon to reinforcing border security in America.

When I first started my career with the Border Patrol, we had a church near the border just over the line that separated my station’s area of responsibility (AOR) from the station next door to us. I was told very early on not to go into the church to pick up illegal aliens. I guess that years previously one Agent did precisely that: he went into the church and dragged some illegal aliens out. This caused a big stink with the Catholic priests complaining about it. It became a political hot potato.
I wonder when exactly this sanctuary policy started. It certainly wasn’t there when Herbert Hoover was having roundups. I always wondered why it was OK for the Catholic church to smuggle aliens, but not for other people. Does slapping a cross in front of a criminal act suddenly make it legal? It didn’t work for the church when it came to pedophilia, although, they certainly tried to hide it.
If you look at 8 U.S. Code 1324, “Bringing in and harboring certain aliens,” it certainly seems like many of these NGOs are breaking federal law with no fear of repercussions.
Border Patrol policy forbade us from going into churches and schools. I always thought this was a bad policy as it gave the lawbreakers the moral high ground. It made it sound like what we were doing was wrong, and not that what they were doing was wrong. “Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s and unto God what is God’s.”
