Earlier: SOUTH AFRICA FARM ATTACKS IN JUNE: Murdered, Beaten With Pipes, Held Hostage And Shot, And Died Of Earlier Torture

In July there were three murders, farm invasions, beatings, stabbings, and one woman was deliberately scalded with boiling water.

• Theo Bekker, 79, was murdered on his farm near Balfour, Mpumalanga province, South Africa.

Four were arrested within two hours of the murder.

Reports say the victim was forced into his house, where the thieves demanded firearms and cash.

His death was attributed to a blunt force trauma to his face. His wife was also assaulted but survived.

After ransacking the home, the intruders made off with cash, three guns, and the couple’s Renault Kwid. They were arrested after authorities were notified when the stolen vehicle was crashed.

• A farmer identified as Mr. Viljoen was attacked in the Motouleng area, near Clarens in Free State province.

Stolen were his firearm, cash and vehicle. His injuries were severe enough to require hospitalization.

• An elderly farmer and a worker were attacked in Hartebeesfontein near Cullinan, in Gauteng province.

After ransacking the home, the intruders made off with the owner’s vehicle and household items.

Authorities were notified after a farmworker investigated upon seeing the vehicle racing away.

• A farmhand was stabbed three times during an attack at Aandeel farm near Tweeling, in Free State province.

He suffered wounds to his hand, head and back.

Three suspects were arrested.

• 67-year-old Mike Pattinson was murdered after his farm Summerslie, in the Sterkfontein area near Harrismith in Free State province was attacked.

The crime scene was discovered by a farm worker.

The house was ransacked. Missing were a computer, a Toyota Urban Cruiser, and the victim.

Police discovered the stolen vehicle at a house in Tseseng, Qwaqwa resulting in the arrests of seven suspects, including two women.

The body of Mike Pattinson was found in the house along with stolen items.

• Pietie Nel was attacked by five men on the farm Buffelsdoorn in the Fochville area near Wadela, in Gauteng province.

Two shotguns, a pistol and a pellet gun were taken.

• A woman was attacked and burned with scalding water on a farm in Dalton, in KwaZulu-Natal province.

One of five attackers was arrested.

Days earlier, two businessmen were discovered murdered in Dalton, bound and with their throats cut [Dalton businessmen found dead with their hands tied and throats slit, The Witness, July 18, 2023].

• A farm was invaded on the Keerweder road in Paarl, in Western Cape province.

Four balaclava-wearing intruders overwhelmed the residents. Taken were valuables and household items.

The attack occurred during a power outage, called ”load shedding” in South Africa.

The victims were treated at the sight after the arrival of an ambulance.

• Farmer Kevin Taylor was tending livestock when his farm Middelrus, in the Mooi River area, in KwaZulu-Natal province, was invaded.

Five armed attackers accosted a woman in the home and assaulted Taylor when he returned. They demanded cash and firearms.

Taylor was forced to open his safe, allowing the invaders to make off with six firearms and cash. Also taken were phones and televisions.

• A couple was assaulted and robbed on the farm De Stades area outside Port Elizabeth, in Eastern Cape province.

The couple and their children were also bound. Their home was ransacked with the intruders taking a firearm, cash, jewelry and other household items.

• A 37-year-old man was killed during a farm attack in Saasveld near George in Western Cape province.

Two suspects, both aged 42, were arrested. They are also accused of taking cell phones and a laptop computer.

The suspects were wearing balaclavas and were armed with a knife and gun. They are accused of ransacking a room used by the victim’s elderly parents, ages 72 and 61.

A 30-year-old woman was also accosted during the crime.

• A woman was assaulted during a theft on a farm in Paarl, in Western Cape province.

Reports say she was struck in the head with a stick when she approached thieves loading trucks with stolen fruit.

The woman called for help leading to the capture of the thieves due to actions taken by the Drakenstein Farm Watch.
