I'm not a Cruz primary supporter, but he is not anti-immigration. He introduced measures to increase H1B visas by 500%. So cut the crap.— Britt Parker (@brittparker88) March 24, 2015
As I said last night in Ted Cruz Presidential Announcement Transcript: Disappointing, But Not The Worst, Cruz doesn’t get it about legal immigration. His announcement speech at Liberty University included this:
Imagine a legal immigration system that welcomes and celebrates those who come to achieve the American dream. And then there's this:
The previous day, on Sunday, Cruz spoke to a riled up crowd of voters in support of streamlining the legal immigration process, claiming that "No one is a stronger advocate for legal immigration than I am”…Of course, the thought of limiting legal immigration isn't even on most people's radar. I remember the temper tantrum John Podhoretz threw in the NRO blog in 2007 when he found out that John Derbyshire and Mark Krikorian of the Center For Immigration Studies wanted fewer legal immigrants. (JPod seems to have stopped posting in the Corner after that, so his shocking ad hominems are what's at the top here.)He spoke highly of potential presidential front-runners former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, praising their service to their states.
In N.H., Sen. Ted Cruz says there's 'no stronger advocate for legal immigration', By Hillary Vaughn, Fox News Latino, March 16, 2015
As I've written, this is basic point of patriotic immigration reform—Alien Nation wasn't called Illegal Alien Nation, the Federation For American Immigration Reform isn't the Federation For American Illegal Immigration Reform, and NumbersUsa isn't called IllegalNumbersUSA. Numbers are of the essence, never mind if they're legal or illegal.
And it's the government that's supposed to decide what the numbers are.
