Nelva Gonzales Ramos is one six children born to Mexican immigrants in Port Lavaca. She's also the Judge who ruled against Texas in a Voter ID case.
Our federal judiciary is out of control, but we’re not doing much about it. Nor are our elected leaders, especially Republicans. When you get right down to it, despite the fact that Americans go on and on about “freedom”, they just roll over in response to the increasingly outrageous and unconstitutional tyranny of the federal bench.
The federal judiciary has recently forced same-sex marriage on various states which voted against it. Of course, these states aren’t doing much to resist the growing judicial tyranny. But, as I say, they’ve grown accustomed to it.
On the other hand, cities can blatantly violate federal law with their illegal alien sanctuary policies. That’s not a problem for the Obama administration, nor was it for the predecessor Bush administration.
The framers of the U.S. Constitution did not intend for the judiciary to become so powerful. But now it’s out of control. Congress deserves much of the blame. There are things Congress could do to rein in the judges. But Congress won’t do it. Even when the GOP controlled both chambers of Congress, they wouldn’t even try.
I once wrote one of my senators, considered one of the country’s most conservative. I suggested that impeachment be used against out- of- control federal judges. But the senator wouldn’t even consider it, assuring me that diversity in the judiciary is what made America great. Really, that was his reply.
Now, Texas’ voter ID law has been nixed by another arrogant kritarch:
A United States District Judge for the Southern District of Texas, Corpus Christi Division, Nelva Gonzalez Ramos, has struck down Texas Senate Bill 14, the 2011 voter ID law, in an opinion released tonight [October 9th]. The Court’s finding was that “SB 14 creates an unconstitutional burden on the right to vote, has an impermissible discriminatory effect against Hispanics and African-Americans, and was imposed with an unconstitutional discriminatory purpose,” as well as “constitut[ing] an unconstitutional poll tax.” ….Attorney General Greg Abbott’s office released a statement from Lauren Bean, Deputy Communications Director, vowing to appeal: “The State of Texas will immediately appeal and will urge the Fifth Circuit to resolve this matter quickly to avoid voter confusion in the upcoming election. The U.S. Supreme Court has already ruled that voter ID laws are constitutional so we are confident the Texas law will be upheld on appeal.”UPDATE: Many political observers expected Judge Ramos, an appointee of President Barack Obama, to rule against the State of Texas and strike down the law. Abbott himself had tweeted just a few days ago a defense of the law and a link to an article discussing some of the ways that Texans can obtain free election identification certificates…”[ Federal Judge Strikes Down Texas Voter ID Law: Abbott Vows AppealSarah Rumpf, Breitbart, October 9, 2014]
Last month, VDARE.COM correspondent Steve Smith predicted this decision, see his letter An American Reader Says That Texas’s Voter ID Law Is In The Hands Of A Latina Judge Who Could Claim Dual Citizenship With Mexico.
As for voter ID, why not do what Mexico does? Simply have the government issue every voter an official voter ID card, at government expense. For the interested reader, I offer links below to some previous articles on the Mexican voter registration system.
As for the out-of-control federal judiciary, how about making it a campaign issue in 2014?
