A black academic called Roger House has just destroyed his chances of getting onto the Harvard Faculty by posting a remarkable article: How Mass Immigration Hurts Black Americans, Daily Beast, January 7, 2024 [Archive Link].
…when Congress resumes debate on border security in January, the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) has an obligation to act on behalf of its base. That’s because the Black community is disproportionately impacted by the current policy on immigration—and the unpredictable border surges of “asylum seekers.”
After this polite start House gets serious:
To date, the body of 60 members—three Senate Democrats, 55 voting House Democrats and two non-voting—has been missing in action. The skirting of duty is largely the result of being beholden to campaign money, business support, and Hispanic and progressive factions of the party. Now is the time for the dereliction to stop.

PREACH IT BROTHER! I do not ever recall such candor about fellow blacks, much less black politicians.
Roger House then goes on to cite:
“Immigration and the Economic Status of African-American Men,” a 2010 study published in the journal Economia, concluded, “We find a strong correlation between immigration, black wages, black employment rates, and black incarceration rates. As immigrants disproportionately increased the supply of workers in a particular skill group, the wage of black workers in that group fell, the employment rate declined, and the incarceration rate rose.”
This study was coauthored by our old friend George Borjas, whose pioneering and courageous research was in many ways inspirational to VDARE—see Peter Brimelow’s discussion in Immigration Policy Stupid, Evil And Hurting Americans.
House then goes on to draw attention to a fine 2022 editorial in the black newspaper The Philadelphia Tribune by T. Willard Fair, President and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Miami: Immigration comes at a devastating cost to Black Americans [March 11, 2022].
Fair acidly noted:
The Congressional Black Caucus has endorsed amnesty and an increase in annual immigration. Why? The CBC has put forward no reasonable explanation. Its members haven’t made a case for how increasing immigration will benefit Black Americans.
Having been so valiant, Roger House sadly falters. He does not call for sterner enforcement at the Border, which so much improved the lot of American workers generally in the Trump years: NATIONAL DATA: October Jobs—Trump’s Immigration Triumph Continues. Farewell To That Too?
(The National Data series has, sadly, been a casualty of the Letitia James pogrom.)
Instead he disappointingly falls back on various proposals to privilege blacks. But he does get in a telling Parthian Shot.
Harris is campaigning on her success in raising $4 billion to help migrating immigrants in Central America. Why not utilize her fundraising prowess towards a development bank for the descendants of slavery and Jim Crow?
Perhaps Roger House thinks that the Democrat commitment to the Great Replacement is nonnegotiable.
Nevertheless, empirical science tells us that defining an issue is a necessary first step to understanding it.
I think Patriots should applaud Roger House: email him.
