This case, in which “JERRY NELSON, as Personal Representative of the Estate of deceased Eddie Lee Nelson, Jr.” and “MICHELE DUSHANE, as surviving spouse of Eddie Lee Nelson, Jr.” are suing the correctional authorities for thoughtlessly locking up a white man with a man in charged with an anti-white hate crime, leading to his death, is part of the continuing legal fallout of the 2020 Racial Reckoning. It’s not really one we were unaware of.

Jayvon Hackett watched Facebook videos of police shootings—probably justifiable—and attempted to get revenge by stabbing a white employee in an AutoZone shop. The employee survived, but as above, the cellmate didn’t.

By the way, if you’re wondering why the legal document refers to Hackett stabbing “the first white guy he s[aw]” it’s because what he actually said was “the first white guy he seen, and reproducing this kind of diction is considered racist.
